Day one leaving Santa Barbara. Whatever I have is what I have. After many months of planning the day has arrived. I failed my own personal challenge of having one carry on and my electronics bag, but we'll see how that goes. Since I was checking a bag for Emily it was suggested that I check my bag as well. That required taking out my toiletries, causing me to have an additional bag to take on the plane. So now I have my electronics bag and my toiletry bag (which is suppose to be my "purse") to take on the plane. Let's hope I get on.
I turned in the leased Honda this afternoon to Thousand Oaks Honda and am now carless for the first time since I was 17 years old. My friend Donna picked me up, we had lunch with my other friend Amy and then Donna drove me to my dad's. I had dinner with my dad and Bobbye then came to Santa Monica.
My first night away from home is being spent at my niece Shawna and her husband Caleb's apartment right on the beach in Santa Monica. I can see the Santa Monica pier from the window. I hope to have a short walk on the beach in the morning and then off to the airport. I am very appreciative to them for having me stay here.
More later.
